For a research-supply business, a payment-provider comparison starts with eligibility. A provider advertising high-risk accounts has not necessarily agreed to support your exact products, marketing, business location, or customer markets. Get a decision based on an accurate description of your operation.
This is a business checklist, not legal or financial advice. Confirm current policies and contract terms with the provider and obtain professional advice for your circumstances.
Identify who is making the decision
Ask who contracts with your business, which bank or acquirer supports the account, and whether the company you are speaking with is a processor, gateway provider, payment facilitator, or referral intermediary. Get the names in writing. Ask which party controls reserves, settlement, termination, and dispute support.
Ask about your actual catalog
Give the provider your official website, product list, countries served, and fulfillment model. Ask for written confirmation of what is permitted and whether particular products or claims are excluded.
Stripe publishes prohibited and restricted business categories, including incorrectly labeled research chemicals. PayPal also publishes prohibited activities and categories needing approval. Those policies do not establish approval for a specific peptide business. Consult the current policy for your country rather than treating a referral or directory listing as acceptance. - Does the provider knowingly support your exact products and business model?
- What documents and website policies are required?
- What business classification will be used, and why?
- What changes to your catalog or marketing require further review?
Separate fees from reserves
Request a complete fee schedule and a separate description of any reserve. Ask about transaction, monthly, gateway, refund, dispute, currency-conversion, and termination charges. For a reserve, establish the amount or percentage, how it is calculated, when funds may be released, and what happens after closure.
Use scenarios when comparing offers: a normal sales month, a month with refunds, and an account closure. Include all charges and held funds rather than comparing only the advertised transaction rate. Do not assume an advertised rate or reserve applies to your application.
Confirm dispute and monitoring rules
Ask for current network and provider-specific monitoring thresholds, fees, and remediation procedures. They can change and may differ by region or merchant circumstances. Use the figures in your current agreement and the applicable network rules.
- Which dispute alerts or prevention tools are included?
- Which events trigger an internal review?
- Who handles evidence and deadlines?
- What reporting or industry-database consequences can follow termination?
Read the agreement before committing
Check term length, automatic renewal, cancellation procedure, early-termination charges, and payout timing. Establish how contract changes are communicated. Have material terms reviewed by an appropriate professional before signing.
Describe the real business consistently. Do not rely on an unrelated merchant account, inaccurate business classification, or a website that changes only for underwriting. A sales promise cannot replace the written agreement or the provider’s eligibility decision.
How Vetted Vial can help
Our payment-setup service can scope provider research, application preparation, gateway integration, and checkout testing. We cannot guarantee approval, rates, reserve terms, or uninterrupted processing. Any referral compensation associated with an engagement should be identified before you choose a provider. Discuss payment setup assistance.
Directory profiles describe publicly offered services. They do not certify that a provider will accept your business. No referral program is activated merely because its public program page exists.
Build a written comparison before choosing a provider
Put each proposal into the same worksheet: contracting entity; acquiring bank or payment facilitator; approved catalog and territories; processing and gateway fees; reserve formula; settlement delay; refund and dispute charges; monthly minimum; contract duration; and exit procedure. Ask which documents form the agreement when a sales proposal and contract differ.
A reserve is withheld cash, so compare available cash as well as fees. For a purely hypothetical month with $20,000 in sales, a 10% reserve would withhold $2,000 before considering fees, refunds, or other adjustments. This is an illustration, not an advertised rate or quote. Ask when each held amount becomes eligible for release and what can delay release.
Plan the launch and account closure
- Confirm who owns gateway credentials, how support is reached, and how refunds work after processing stops.
- Ask for an approved testing procedure before any checkout test or live transaction.
- Confirm that the billing descriptor, receipt, refund policy, and contact information match the real business.
- Ask whether changing a product, website claim, business model, or country served requires new underwriting.
A research-use label, a referral introduction, or an affiliate-program acceptance does not establish merchant eligibility or legal approval. Do not conceal the catalog or misstate the business to obtain an account.
Compare payment-provider profiles and read public referral-program notes separately. A referral reward and a suitable merchant contract are different decisions.
For laboratory research and business education only. A report or listing does not establish suitability for human use.
